Fairford and Lechlade U18s coach Graham Merrington has been looking forward to this Saturday’s North Wiltshire Youth League Cup Final.

Having defeated Ashton Keynes in the semi-final, FLY FC travel to Swindon Town’s County Ground to face Chippenham Town FC and Graham had this to say: “It’s been a great season for the boys, they’ve all worked really hard across the season – and it’s going to be great to go down to Swindon for the final.”

“It’s a superb opportunity for them to play at a football league ground and give a good account of themselves. Chippenham are a good, strong side, and we’re really looking forward to the match.”

Swindon Town’s Country Ground – the setting for this year’s Cup final

The final clashes with another cup final – the FA Cup final between Chelsea and Manchester United at Wembley, but Graham’s hopeful that Fairford and Lechlade will still enjoy plenty of support. “We’d love to see people down there” he said “Especially players and parents from our younger age groups – give it a few years and those guys could be playing in finals just like this.”

The match kicks off at 5:05pm at Swindon Town’s Country Ground, entry is £4, with kids going free.
