Following extensive works at Horcott Road, Match Snacks, the Club’s kitchen has reopened.

Thanks to Howden’s Game Changer programme, FYFC has been able to benefit from a substantial grant in conjuction with the Football Foundation, significantly upgrading the facilities.

The project began in summer 2023 after former Chair Kayla Jolly was successful in winning the grant for the Club. With this news, the old kitchen was removed and the space decorated, ready for the visit from Ben Murphy, from Howden’s Cirencester kitchen design team.

With a design set, the kitchen was then fitted thanks to the Matt Edmonds and Nick Whild from Lakeside Construction, before SJS  Electrical services tackled the wiring, Matt Steven the plumbing  and DM Tiling completed the look with red and white tiles, matching the Club’s colours.

The grant provided not only the kitchen units, but also equipment, meaning the Club gained a new oven, two fridges, microwave and dishwasher.

The kitchen reopened on the 21st of January, and has already begun to benefit the Club. Club Chair Adam Sloman said “Everyone connected with grassroots football knows just how important a facility like this is – it means the club can generate extra revenue – revenue we can put back into the Club, benefitting the children with better facilities, playing surfaces, all sorts. Kayla did a fantastic job in winning this grant for the Club and we should all be very grateful to her for her efforts. It wouldn’t have happened without her.”

While the kitchen is open every Sunday, the Club is planning a formal opening event once the better weather arrives later in 2024!
