While much of the UK is forecast to be hit by a weatherbomb of thundersnow, the football keeps coming for Fairford and Lechlade YFC. Here’s our preview for the coming weekend.
Starting on Saturday, the Under 9s are training at Horcott Road, the session starts at 10:30.
Fast forward to Sunday, January 15th and our teams are involved in no less than 8 games – four at home, four away.
The action starts on Sunday, with the first session for Kickstart – with the little ones in mind, the sessions have moved from Horcott Road to the Sportshall at Farmors School while the weather is colder. If your little one wants to join in, just turn up at 9:30 – £3 a session.
At home, the Under 9s, 11 Celts, U13s and U18s are all at home, playing Wims Foothills, Lydiard Youth Hammers and Derry Hill United respectively. Sunday promises to be a big game for the U13s in particular who continue to push towards the top of the table. “We’ve played 10 games so far and won 5” said Coach Steve Dark. “We’re currently 3rd with six games to play. We’ve only got one game in January, which is this Sunday, so we’d love to see people come out and cheer us on.” Their game kicks off at 10:30.
Away from home, the U7s head to Swindon to play Wims 11 Calgary FC, while the U8s travel to play Lydiard Youth Lions. The U14s head to Wanborough Juniors and the U12s are looking forward to a game at Oaksey. Finally, the U9s are away to Highworth Town, with a 10:00 am kick-off.
For those at home, the kitchen will be open, serving the usual refreshments – there’s nothing better to keep out the cold than a hot drink or a bacon sarnie!
With some bad weather being forecast for the weekend it’s possible that some matches may be cancelled – possibly late on. Keep in touch with your team’s coaches in case of any last minute postponements
