Fairford and Lechlade Youth Football Club (FLYFC) are thrilled to announce the receipt of a grant of £4500 from Gloucestershire Community Foundation.
The grant has been awarded as part of the Club’s Put it on the Pitch campaign and will be used to support FLYFC’s programme of pitch improvements at Horcott Road.
Club Chairman Adam Sloman said “We’re absolutely delighted to have received this award and we’re incredible grateful to Gloucestershire Community Foundation for their support. This money will allow us to start making some urgently-needed improvements to the pitches.”
The Club has already begun work, having received an FA Pitch Improvement Programme Initial report. “The report was pretty bad” notes Adam. “It deemed our pitches as either ‘Below Standard’ or ‘Basic’ in many areas – so to receive this grant is great, and gets the ball rolling, but we still have a very long way to go.”
The first element of the programme began during the Easter period as the pitches were vertidrained and seeded, weeded and fertilised with more works planned when funds allow.
“We have to be able to provide the children with good quality facilities, and the most obvious facility is the pitch itself. We set a goal of £9000 for the campaign and this grant brings us to the half-way point, which is a massive, massive help, but we need support from the local community to help us get to our goal.”
The Club’s end of season presentation and Football Fun Day is set for May 18th, from 12, with not only the opportunity to celebrate yet another successful season on the pitch, but also enjoy some fantastic food from the Cotswold Chippy, cold drinks and snacks from ‘Match Snacks’, bouncy castles and fun with SK Party Solutions and an incredible fund-raising auction with awesome money-can’t-buy items.
