Fairford and Lechlade Under 7s training sessions are back, from September the 10th, starting at 10am at Horcott Road.
For this season, coach Andy Wright has decided not to enter the team in the league, but rather to give the players another season to develop.
“I was originally going to go up with the current crop, to the U7s; however having only recently found a coach for Kickstart, I have decided to do a combination. Initially, I’ll be supporting the new Kickstart coach, so my intention is to run a training session at 10am on Sundays. I have decided not to enter them into a league this year as training will be more beneficial. Instead I am going to organise some friendlies and hopefully attend some tournaments; this way the kids will experience real games, without our planning and their development being dictated by fixtures. In my view starting a proper league at U8s is more appropriate and allows us to get the building blocks in place.”
As well as continuing to aid their development, the team has secured sponsorship for the coming season, courtesy of Nelbek Developments Limited. “We played in a tournament last season, we did have a bit of a ragtag appearance” says Andy. “This will be no more! Very generously Nelbek Developments Limited (info@nelbek.com), have sponsored the team for a complete new kit, with some money left to buy some equipment. I would like to publicly thank Garry and Kyle Neilson for such a generous gesture, it is much appreciated. We’ll look to get leaflets out to the schools in the next week or so, advertising the sessions to both new starters and kids who may not be aware. I look forward to seeing you and your kids on the 10th.”
