While our players<\/strong><\/span> have been busy enjoying a well-deserved Summer break, there’s still been plenty of work going on at Horcott Road this Summer. <\/p>\n

Back in July the Club held a working day to clear old and broken kit and equipment from the Club house – this means that we no longer need to store goals in our changing rooms, something that made match days a particularly awkward affair! <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The old, dangerous goals have been sent for recycling and a good amount junk, (including abandoned basketball nets and bicycle frames!) have also been cleared. The old pharmacy truck body that was bought for storage, but never used, has also been recycled. The abandoned cars from the car park have also been removed. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

New signage has been installed, showing the Club’s brand-new crest as well as a return to its traditional name.  Inside, the walls have been treated to a fresh coat of red paint, carrying the Club colours of red and white through the building. It was great to see coaches, parents and players getting busy with the paint brushes, and the extra help from our friends at Fairford Rugby Club was very much appreciated! <\/p>\n

In the next few weeks the floors will be cleaned and painted, remaining new signage will also be put in place, meaning that Horcott Road should look in great shape for the start of the season on the weekend of 14th and 15th of September. <\/p>\n

There’s further work due on the playing surface too, with fertilising and verti-draining scheduled this autumn, all of which will help the playing surface continue to improve, with similar maintenance planned for the extra pitches under the Club’s care on the former site of Coln House School.<\/p>\n

We as a Club want to provide the children with the very best facilities we possibly can and hope that everyone can see the efforts we are going to do to just that. <\/p>\n

There’s still more work to be done, but it feels like an exciting time around the Club – we have more and more children looking to sign on to play football with us (more on that in another update soon!) and we are enjoying fantastic support from right across the local community, from schools, local businesses and much, much more (more to come on that front, too!) – the future looks very bright indeed!<\/p>\n
